Today I join the ever growing throng of people who have their own blog. Why? To be honest, I'm not real sure. I wonder, who will really want to take the time to visit my blog and really truly learn anything new about me that they wouldn't by just talking to me? Then I realize, that I have in fact gleaned information about others from their willingness to make their lives known through blogging. So, here goes nothing...

Science "Fun" for the Day
Here's a fun science demonstration/challenge that you can use to win a bet or get out of some household chores:
Take an egg, just any regular egg will do, and challenge someone to crush the egg in their hand. Have them place the egg in their hand so that the points (or ends) of the egg are in the palm of the hand and in their fingers. (Imagine your trying to squeeze the top of the egg into the bottom of the egg) Make sure that the hand their using does not have any rings on it and challenge them to crush the egg. They shouldn't be able to do it.
The science? Simply put...(ask Andy N. to explain it...just kidding!)...an arch is one of the strongest architectural designs because of the way that the arch distributes the force applied to it over the expanse of the arch.
